I purchased this reel to fish for trout and kokanee using my down riggers. I replaced the handle. Because it was to big for my purpose. I replaced it with Okuma's CI-354a reel's handle. I'm using 10 lb. monofilament P-line. Nothing like having a line counter reel when your trolling. Especially when using down riggers. My friend has the same reel. He use's it for Striper and Salmon fishing. Trolling with his boat. He put 30 lb. Braided line on his reel. And the power handle that the reel came with. Works perfect for fighting these big game fish. Great price and fast shipping. Thank you.

Best reels you can get for pulling boards on Erie. Good line counters, the drags are perfect, and they don’t wear out fast because of the metal gears. The low profile makes it easy to hold on to as well.

So far this reel has proved itself to be quite a buy. It has handled quite a few 3 to 8 lb trout. It has worked flawless with 17 lb florocarbon and the drag is great. I own two of these plus a model 153 and 203 Okuma. I highly recommend the Okuma reels.
