there is only one thing I wish I had known before I bought it---the ends are blunt not pointed ( as the picture shows). I grew up using the pointed ends to help me move sticks. with the blunt ends that is not possible so I will have to find me another set with pointed ends. other than that it is a sturdy set.

I remembered playing 'pickup' sticks as a child with my parents and brother and thought I would order a set to play with my grandchildren. These sticks are NOT of the quality I remembered. They do not have sharp points on the ends (needed to properly play the game); several are crooked; and they are made from extremely light wood, which allows them to move at the slightest breeze. If you want 'pick up sticks' keep looking and try to find a set of vintage sticks from the 50's or 60's; you know, when people cared about what they made.

They are nice and I like the wood box but they are too big. They are larger than I remember the old ones used to be and for little hands might be more challenging. Also, the points are not consistently sharp and some don't allow enough of a "lift" to be able to take it off the stack well. Still looking for the right ones. the description does not give you the length of the sticks but these are about 10" long and a good 1/8" thick. I am looking for a 7" and thinner than 1/8" dowel.

I bought 6 boxes of pick-up sticks and in each box there was probably 1 stick that was defective. That means splintered and needed to be thrown away. I finally thought about wrapping the stick with clear non-glare tape. This seems to work so stick does not need to be thrown away. I also got a splinter from sliding the lid on which of course was hard to see to remove because of the color of the wood matching the color of my skin. Overall, the students in my second grade class really enjoys playing them.

Oh my gosh, what memories! A large family, we played this game of concentration and steady skills ALL the time. We even had play offs! And....the winner is....

While playing with it, it shades color in your hand. I don't think it is safe for kids. Lost my money 💰.
