This turntable isn't too shabby. I do have a few complaints though. To begin, I put it through a stress test. The cartridge has a tracking force of 3.8 grams, perfectly acceptable for this cartridge. Definitely won't chew up your records like a Crosley Cruiser would. It also has perfect anti-skating. The adjustable pitch slider is a nice touch, but it has the tendency to vary in speed slightly as the turntable spins. For me personally it plays slightly fast after a few songs, but it's easily fixable with the pitch slider. Perhaps it just needs to be broken in. You may have to adjust the speed for each individual LP you play as well due to every LP weighing a different amount. Next, I put on a very bass heavy LP (Daft Punk's Random Access Memories) to see if it would skip, and surprisingly it didn't. In terms of the build quality, you get what you pay for. It's a completely plastic build and lightweight, weighing at most 6 lbs. Not ideal but it's cheap. I didn't expect grand build quality. However, it's a very nice looking turntable. Very sleek. I love the smoked dust cover. Kind of has a vintage look to it. However, there's no phono/line switch, so the built-in pre-amp is unable to be deactivated. Not like you'd want to use an external pre-amp with this cartridge anyway. It wouldn't really make an audible difference. Lastly, both the power and audio cables are permanently attached to the turntable, so you won't be able to use cables of your own. It is what it is though. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. We'll see how it holds up after a few months. Read full review

I've always wanted a full auto turntable, and even though this shares the same China sourced chassis and internals as the ones from Audio Technica and Sony, the Pioneer is the only full auto version. But it has a belt, the tone arm is at a set weight, most people say you should replace the stock cartridge immediately, and the list goes on. So, I bid on a 30 year old Pioneer that's similar to the one I have, except it is full auto.

To Whom it May Concern: Fortunately the turntable works, it took a little audiophile expertise to get this item to function as intended. First thing I noticed opening the box was no packing/bubble wrap. The turntable box was just floating around inside of the box with nothing preventing it from being banged. The only packing items missing from the “open box” was the stylist cover and something to keep the platter in place. The platter was dislodged and the belt that moves the platter was wrapped around the spindle six times. The platter was floating free during shipping as evident by the rub marks on the dust cover. Perhaps a couple pieces of tape was in order to keep the platter in place and not foul up the belt. The turntable works, sounds good, and plays as intended.

good (old) record player for non-audiophiles enjoying some old LP's. I had to get a new needle-the Audio-Technica ATN3600L works. The turntable has in internal amp, so you use a normal RCA input to a receiver/amp; NOT a "phono" input. I used "VDP".

Bought this for my 15 year old niece who started showing a interest in "old school" records. Is straight forward and easy to play.

Speed doesn't remain stationary. I have to adjust it after a song or two.
