These knives are ideal tools for hunters, and they also make excellent survival knives. With an overall length of 9.5 inches, this well-balanced knife weighs almost 6.5 ounces and is easily maneuvered. The broad, razor-sharp knife with its thin spine offers a precision cut every time. It is VG-1 San Mai III steel with a VG-1 core encased in a softer stainless. The stainless keeps the knife flexible and resistant to breaking. The core of the carbon steel hunting knife stays sharp and resists wear. The two metals are specially heat tempered to promote this edge retention. Its design allows for easy re-sharpening. The broad, drop-point design has a gradual bevel over the width of it, and it has a full flat grind which was honed by hand. The black diamond-like carbon coating protects the blade from scratching while also keeping the knives from reflecting light. The curved cutting blade slices through hide quickly, and a hunter can use these knives for bear, wild hogs, deer, elk, and moose along with many other types of game. Users are able to skin and dress multiple animals before having to sharpen this Cold Steel Master blade. The Cold Steel Master knife's classic design makes it a functional tool for survival and self-defense purposes. Take it camping and leave your kitchen knives and cutlery in the kitchen where they belong. This knife can be used to cut and slice vegetables and meat. You can also make feather sticks or chop small pieces of wood. Keeping it well oiled will preserve the Cold Steel Master Hunter blade for many years. These steel knives are manufactured in the United States. They are then sent to Taiwan to have the handles attached and the sheath produced. The drop points on these are as effective as many clip-point knives. The Kraton grip makes these knives comfortable for a hunter to use over an extended period of time. Kraton has a tacky, rubbery feel. It is quite stiff and shock absorbent. A checkered pattern covers the handle, keeping your hand from slipping no matter how wet or cold it might be. It also ensures a good grip even when you wear thick gloves. The finger guard on the bottom of the handle is another layer of protection against your hands slipping onto the blade. The ergonomic handle has a slightly curved palm and butt. The handle's design keeps your hand from becoming fatigued or strained when skinning or dressing wild game. Kraton is impervious to the elements and will not rot, mildew, or splinter. These Cold Steel knives feature Concealex sheaths that keep the blades protected from the elements and corrosion when not in use. Cold Steel makes some great knives, some truly are a bit pricy but as a former armed professional I know a knife that you can count on is important, so getting a good price for this knife was a major plus and even though it's not really a combat knife, the materials and workmanship in making the knife, the blade lenth, thickness, edge, and overall ergonomic design makes this knife superior to many so called "combat knives" that flood the market. Also i removed the belt loop from the very slender sheath to tuck into my pants at the belt line and the knife is perfect as a back up concealed carry blade and just so you know, it does perform exceptionally well as a self defense weapon.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great knife with quality laminate blade of San Mai VG1. This is my 2nd purchase of this knife and will be a present from me to a great hunting Buddy. Arrived very sharp as the first did. Great handle is hand filling and very comfortable. The sheath is well designed and fits perfectly. This is a Cold Steel!..., in San Mai III to boot! What more can be said. A knife is used to cut or to stab. The Master Hunter cuts well. It wiill NEVER be used to baton. To do that, bring an axe; a prepared survivalist survives. For stabbing? A report on that use of this knife will probably not be coming for a while.
