Practice makes Perfect Audio Connections
This product, Pyle-Pro PDC21 Instrument To Balanced and Unbalanced audio lines, is the third one that I use as an interface between my Behringer MX-1604A mixer output to a Ham Radio transceiver Yaesu, Kenwood, or Icom microphone input, via a Heil CC-1 XLR Y-BAL Cable or generic cable. In this type of configuration, the Pyle-Pro PDC21, as an interface box, ensures impedance matching and hum reduction, with it's Ground Loop Lift circuitry. Not quite as advertised
I bought this direct box specifically as a cheap alternative for reamping guitars in my studio. Running signal into the 1/4" input and out through the XLR sounds okay (just a slight low end roll off, nothing extremely noticeable), but running signal into the XLR jack and out the 1/4" jack sounds awful. Measuring the signal on a RTA, there was nothing being reproduced below 400 Hz. My only reason for not sending it back is because it sounds fine converting unbalanced to balanced signals, and return shipping would probably be as much as the box itself cost. Use this DI box for live sound application for electronic drum machine. It makes the unit more like "real" drums and enhances the fullness of the sound. It is very easy to use and is housed in a rugged steel box. There are more expensive and complicated DI boxes out there but for the price and functionality, this unit is hard to beat. Might work for some but 2 DOA for me
I have 2 new in box units that showed up today. I ordered them as back ups to my dbx and hosa units. One of them works only if you push in on the db slider and only on the 0db position. The other one works for a little while on the 0 and middle position. It then starts to cut out and you have to run the slider back and forth until it makes sound again. Sorry but my stage gear needs to be 100 percent reliable so these go back. Think I just got some with back switches.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

A great direct out for my guitar amp
This unit, among other things, can be connected across a high-power speaker without modification to provide a line-level signal to a mixer. The transformer is very wide in frequency response and provides balanced or unbalanced outputs. With switchable fixed attenuation, it should handle any application. If you are a DIY person, the resistor values can be easily changed to provide a custom attenuation, or drill one hole and add a potentiometer. The steel chassis is very robust.
