For a portable Gameboy version of a Gradius game, I can't imagine it being done any better than this. It's challenging while being fair, has the more advanced weapon customization found in later games, and looks great too. There are even some cut scenes in between the levels that help with continuity. Some might say it's too short, but I would disagree considering the quality of what is here.
If you can get through the first 3 minutes of the game, it gets fun. It's really only realistically beatable if you keep your ship powered up. It gets fun when you get good at it, but pretty discouraging the first few tries when you die often! This is a nice game. I bought it for my Gameboy Advance SP.
A great port of a Nintendo classic
