Setup hell
So when my router arrived I was so excited it had two pages of printed out from the internet instructions on how to find the IP address of the router to setup. This was useless. When I plugged in the router no device in my house even recognized it. I spent 3 hours on the phone with time warner cable idiots. After my first hour they told me to call the manufacturer so I did they said they could not help me because this was a time warner cable specially issued router and they did not have trouble shooting instructions for it. So they sent me back to time warner after another 2 hours of them trying to fix the issue of the fact that the wireless router portion was not working at all I was transferred to a gentleman who was able to hack into my router and reset it from the inside as everything was shut off internally and it was not responding at all. set up: it had to be reset to factory defaults before it would respond to the ip and login on the included papers. wps button does not work, good value: it does its job, not exceedingly well but it works and was the least expensive of tthe 300mps models perform well: modem speeds as advertised, wireless is week, needed a extender. the 2.4 wireless light does not work., wps works if you go into the settings online which is good layout.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Comcast tries to con you.
I spent three days tring to activae this on comcast as i was told DOSIS 3.0 should work. On day one i called comcast CS and they told me that the UBEE is not approved on comcast. They are right its not on the list but it should still work since its DOCSIS 3.0. On the second day I call tech support and they said the same thing.... about to give up. On the third day i went on CHAT with comcast rep and said that the modem was a Arris TG862g and gave them the RF MAC address. Good modem/router combo
Bought this instead of paying to rent monthly from cable provider. Product works well. It took a long time for the cable company to set it up so I could access the internet, but after that got resolved it was easy to set up. I've had it for almost a month and have not had problems yet. A Little Tricky to Setup
It wasn't actually hard to setup, the instructions were just a bit vague so I did have to reset the router to try it a 2nd time and the 2nd time it worked. So just make sure you do it right the 1st time, lol. Maybe it was me? I've had it for about a month now and it's worked great and for the price, you can't beat it! I see some bad reviews but they seem to be about people that use the builtin wifi. I'm not using that and have had no issues. I'm getting 220 down / 22 up which is great since I'm on a Time Warner 200/20 plan. No issues with setup. Can you fight cable company prices by buying refurbished modems?
I believe so. The need for lower prices is huge, mostly because cable companies keep slightly upgrading. The result is a box full of top-grade, useless modems. Exact same modem as my ISP rental.
This modem saved me a fair bit of money. Some companies are beginning to charge equipment rental fees of $10 a month. The ISP's modem (that I've had for years prior) was going to now start costing me $10 a month for no other reason then more money! So I picked this one up (exact same model) used for $25.
