As a recent purchase, the durability is not a question I could answer yet. I've owned other models by this company for many years that are durable. This is a compact, bargain model with some nice new menu options, including classic oatmeal. Zojirushi, with this and other models, is not the fastest way to make rice; but it creates perfect rice with many menu options to match the machine to the type of rice purchased. The instructions include rinsing the rice before cooking - an important step with any rice cooker.

Although I had the previous model, this cooker had features the other one didn't. The capacity is the same, but the inside pan is flatter & heavier & it has more options to suit my needs. Makes excellent rice & oats every time. It seemed a bit expensive when I bought my first cooker, but Zojirushi delivers great results and is worth purchasing for the long term.

Cook rice perfectly every time! We used to cook rice in the microwave & since we have this rice cooker we never look back. It cooks the rice so perfectly, the texture is perfect!! The warm up function is quiet amazing, I left the rice on warm for over 20 hours & no dry bits at all on the bottom on the pot! I also found the rice lasts longer in this rice cooker. I found out when I accidentally left the rice there for 2 days (the cooker was off) & the rice was still fresh. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the leg of the rice cooker does not have any rubber/anti slip, so you need to put anti slip mat under it yourself to prevent it moving around when you’re getting your rice.

My cheap Aroma rice cooker was making horrible rice. I thought maybe if I bought a more high-end rice cooker it would solve the issue. I was right. This thing makes gourmet quality rice every time. I'm using the same exact rice I used with the cheap model and it seems like it isn't even the same brand. The texture is much fluffier and more moist. To the pallet it has a really pleasant feel and taste now. I thought maybe it was the rice but it wasn't. Too bad I'm at the end of a 25 pound bag. I wasted all that good rice in a cheap cooker. If you're reading this and are thinking of buying one, do it. If you want the kind of rice you only get in high end Tai or Chinese restaurants, this is it. I would even say that my rice is better than any restaurant out there. I did follow the directions to the T. I'm using Jasmine rice and using the long grain white rice setting. It's dead perfect. The instructions are awesome. They are very clear that the cup markings on the cooker bowl match the little cup that comes with it. Also they said in bold print to use the white rice long grain setting or it won't turn out right. Glad I read all the instructions. I'm in rice heaven.Read full review
