I bought this cartridge when my own stopped working (lo and behold, my cartridge actually started working again as soon as I bought this one...but now I have a backup). I'm really glad I decided to go back and replay Harvest Moon 64. There's a lot of hype and a lot of nostalgia surrounding this game, and sometimes it can be hard to pull apart whether those feelings are simply a longing for that feeling of gaming when you were a kid, or if a game really was that good. I can confidently say now that this game really is that good. It's stood the test of time -- controls and gameplay are intuitive and fun, and the depth of the characters and the feeling of kinship within the town is second to none. I 100% recommend returning to Flower Bud Village, or joining for the first time, to any fan of Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, or other village/life/farm sims.Read full review

I purchased this game because I used to play it as a kid and I loved the style and story. The game requires you to accomplish everyday tasks and chores around your farm and the surrounding small town. I do admit the game can get a little monotonous at times but if you are patient, it can be very fun. There are so many things to accomplish in this game, so it will keep you occupied for many hours and days at a time. The variety of paths you can take, and events you can partake in this game is the reason why I enjoy it so much. If you enjoy a "Sim" type game where you take control of someone's life and make it your own then this fun little game will give you hours or enjoyment!
I was lent this game a couple of years ago, and even though this isn't the first Harvest Moon game I've experienced, I think this is one of the best games of all time with the greatest character development. Though it took me a while to get used to the graphics, it really wasn't that big of a deal. This game has the same situation as every other Harvest Moon game-- you farm, you ranch, you get married, and you develop relationships with the characters and experience real-life situations. Though, the Harvest Moon Series is a lot more exciting than anyone can make it sound. I decided to repurchase this game because I really missed everything about it. It's the most addicting game to play, and I think it is a classic. Most people prefer this to HM SNES, though I can't say, seeing as how I've never played. Though this Harvest Moon is much more adult compared to the earlier games (death, drinking, etc), I think it's a good game for kids that are a little more grown up. (ages 8+)Read full review
Harvest Moon 64 is one of the few RPGs on the Nintendo 64. You play the role of a boy named Jack who inherits his Grandfather's farm after he dies. The farm has become neglected and run down, so the main objective of the game is to fix up the farm so that it is successful again. However, you can visit the town, make friends with all the townsfolk, and increase your reputation to become a very respected member of the town. The amount of things you can do to increase your reputation is seemingly limitless: compete in town events, go to weddings, build bridges, recieve mail, and just about anything else you could do in real life in a town. You can even get married and have a child! The concept of playing a farmer may seem like a dull one, but Natsume pulled it out perfectly, making it a strong title to add to any N64 collection.Read full review
