an excellent every day carry or backup duty light
sure AA batteries are cheaper, but I carry a light as a life support tool, and I want the most power in a small, durable, reliable package, with simple operation. The Streamlight Protac 1L delivers on all fronts. It is a compliment to my duty light, Streamlight's Strion, and having to learn one set of switch operations facilitates continuity of training. Are there lights with more functions? Absolutely, but under stress, less is more, and simplicity is your friend. For work lights, or when my bacon is in the fryer, I use Streamlight and Surefire lights.
