I decided to buy it after experiencing a great Savoy Brown concert in Erie PA and meeting Kim Simmonds in person. we actually talked about this album and his fascination with blues and Gibson guitars/he broke off the neck of his famous 56 Les Paul Gold top prototype and plays newer guitars now. Great concert not enough space here to describe it but Kim is as good as Jimmy Page live ;enough said? Hellbound Train is one of those early 70's albums full of experimentation and different musical experiences going all the way to jazz, great musicianship and simple yet effective production; so fresh leaving the listener feeling good unlike modern blues albums overproduced boring and often imitating Steve Ray Vaughn music. Helbound Train/the song itself is a haunting and exciting experience; this how modern blues rock should be played, by the way the present singer with Savoy Brown is better than the one on the album by far! Still a superb album buy it and discover one of the greatest blues rock bands of all times!Read full review
Savoy Brown has done better complete albums, but "Hellbound Train" offers a glimpse into its heyday here in America...the group did well over here, and "HT" was probably the best-selling LP SB put out here...gets off to a rousing start with "Doin' Fine" (my personal favorite on the album)...and ends with the melodic and rather lengthy title track...with several stops in between...as I mentioned earlier, "Train" isn't the best the band had to offer, but with all the personnel changes, it's nice to know that Kim Simmonds remained with the band through all...and that fact helps make "Train" an above-average offering...this re-release is worth the time and effort to get...if you're a Savoy Brown fan, you probably already have the album, but if you're looking to experience Savoy Brown for the 1st time, "Hellbound Train" will do just fine...Read full review
Hellbound Train was Savory Brown's follow up to their very successful " Street Corner Talking ". This particular lineup was always one of my favorites. I'm happy they did three albums with it. Hellbound Train was probably not Savory Brown's best piece of work, but it's good. This album contains the song " I'll Make You Happy " which is one of my favorite Savory Brown songs. For anyone reading this that has a big CD collection and don't have no Savory Brown. I strongly recommend picking up a release from 1969 through 1973. You won't be disappointed
I could review this if I received it, but I didn't!!!!

I have been seeking a copy of this for some time but no one seems to stock or sell it retailly. I enjoyed all the songs but was disappointed with the ending of the title song .The original version came to a sudden stop of the music whereas this version trailed off. The sudden stop of the music is important as it indicated that you arrived in hell and the train ride was over.
