What a neat and heart warming movie
Very cool story set in England back in the 1920’s-30’s I’ll guess. Amazing what a person can accomplish with positive attitude, mannerism, and persuasion. The movie shows how a gem is hiding in most everyone, and it only takes a keen eye and strong will to bring it to a shine. “One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure,” so to speak. This Movie Should Have Won Multiple Oscars!
Cold Comfort Farm is one of our all-time favorite movies. My former Shakespeare professor reported (long ago) that when he viewed it in the theatre, the entire row of seats were physically shaking from the laughter of the occupants. Most of the actors went on to big careers, and they are all 'characters' in this movie. The film is hilariously deadpan, ultimately upbeat, clever, strange and delightful. Chick flick that guys can enjoy too
I'm not a good reviewer, but I'll tell you about my experience. I watched this movie after it came out around '96 or '97 and it is the kind of movie / story that you don't forget. At times it seems a little stuffy and pretentious, but that was purposefully done to round out the comedy.
