I purchased this light to replace a 13-14 year old 75 watt sodium dusk to dawn barn light. This is just as bright, if not brighter than the old one. It had the same pattern for mounting bolts, so it was quite easy to swap to this fixture from the old one. The light is white, compared to the orange-ish light that the sodium bulb gave off. This unit is cast aluminum on the top, with an enclosed clear lower lens. Seems to be very good build quality. 40 watts as opposed to 75 on the old fixture will save some $ on the electric bill. Time will tell on how long it lasts, but it should last for years. Would definitely buy again.

I bought this dusk to dawn light to replace my old power burner I had before. This is a really bright light. I mounted it on the eave of my garage in the back yard. It gives out more bright white light than that big bulb that would HUM all night. My electric bill just stays over 200.00 every month. I know it got to be due to that 300 watt HID light humming all night. Now I'm ready to see how much this new light drops my electric bill. If it drops for a month the light is paid for. I liked the price of the light especially compared to Lowes prices. So far as far as the light itself I'm quite happy with it. My garage leave isn't but only 17ft high ,the light covers my back yard immensely. I'd buy again and I'd surely recommend it to anyone looking to change their's... Much more to my liking. I had a 35 watt one that also has a motion sensor, it seemed brighter, however because it is mounted so high the motion sensor was very hard to activate, then I noted even when the light wasn't on due to motion sensor activation there was still a very dim glow coming from the lamp. Now the light is on at dark and off in the light - no doubts. I also have a switch on it so if I want I can keep it off all night. Just what I wanted.
