Early units were good,, this acts like its great.
Started with this company many years ago.. Tractors,, VW trike, and other older cars and pu's over the years.. All have done well and all are still working great. This unit installed ok,, but noticed it ran ratty at higher RPMs.. I read the directions again and it stressed having good ground connections. Well the breaker plate ground was broken so made up a new one with the scrap silicone wire I had cut off the unit to fit the coil. Still ran ratty. . Years ago,, I installed a Pertronix unit,, model 1 on a hot rod car that was jetted ritch. WIth the higher spark power,, tends to make a rich carb issue even a larger problem. One could tell at full power the engine was loading up with raw fuel. So pulled the main jets out and went 20% smaller. Now the unit pulls strong all the way to red line. With the old points system this did not happen.. So does the stronger spark try and light the richer mixture all at the same time for the reason it loads up so bad,, and with points it just chewed on the fuel..? Been down this road before so knew where too look.. I don't know but the stumble is gone and pulls hard from idle to red line. Thanks guys for a wonderful product. All and all it works as it's supposed to but it wasn't without its problems. The plate that the module was mounted on was manufactured incorrectly so it couldn't be screwed onto the mounting plate. Called the company and they were aware of the problem and sent me a replacement. All this took time so my vehicle was inoperable for far longer then it should have been. Once the unit was finally installed in the distributor the engine fired right up and ran well. Hopefully, it'll give long and proper service for a long time.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
