The S300 [T1205 on chip] will only run in Server 2012 [2016 & 2019 if you use Windows Update MANUALLY.] Will run SAS hard drives at up to 3gps...but limited size. The SAS 6 [T1215 on chip] automatically configured in Windows 10 on Precision Workstation. Will also run on Linux [says Red Hat.] Server 2003+. With a GPT Partition was able to format full 3TB hard drive. Also, on the Precision Workstation [per Dell Specs] will only Stripe SATA and SAS...will NOT Mirror. You may have better luck. The cards look almost identical!!!

Used in my old Dell T5400 with 2 2.5" Toshiba SAS 10K rpm drive installed in a PCIe x 4 available slot.So far working quite well. As with add on controller card, the card BIOS it appears first in the power/boot up and there is the usual configuration/recognition thing. After that, regular windows 10 boot up. Still need to find out if the card firmware (by LSI) could be updated.
