Hard to Beat Used
I looked for a new, inexpensive tablet/2 in 1. With some power. The only real players are Samsung and Microsoft, all in the $800 plus range. All the other offerings were Atom or Celeron based, short on RAM and SSD. Getting an i5 with enough RAM to do some work and multitask at the price of a good, used Surface Pro is a steal. The battery lasts at least four hours (as hard as I've pushed it) under a decent load of multi-page internet, word processing, Office Suite and running a 20 channel audio interface and more than a few VST instruments in the background. The pen and scribbling are icing. If you're looking for a knock around tablet with a real processor than can do some real work and not break the bank, find a good used Surface Pro. Mini display port? I'd rather have mini HDMI.One USB 3 requires requires a multi port if you want to dangle a makeshift dock from it. But the Bluetooth rocks even at 4. as I use a Microsoft designer mouse (size, not trend) with no issue and the docking keyboard. Device not working - Good exterior, faulty machine - wouldnt buy again
The product received was a surface PRO i5 64GB with Touch Cover Teclado and the charger. I was surprised when I received it, because it is a PRO 2, and older model. I turned it on, did the setup and put it charging. 1st Issue - It was in working order, but the maximum batery charge was 60%. 2nd Issue - The batery lasted very little time, this was with a minimum usage. Opening webpages and testing if the programs where working. So in order to use it for batery consuming operations I would have to have the deviced plugged in, which denies the principal of usages of these devises which is transport it anywhere and use it anywhere. 3rd and final issue - The batery started not charging, and also when I turned it in asked me to do some essential/mandatory updates to the basic programs the device had. After this it stopped working, when you pressed the button to turn it on, it would appear the screen with the "surface" logo and then nothing, black screen. Now it doesnt even respond. And yes I did try with the power source connected to the surface and nothing, even tried leaving it "charging for a few hours", nothing. Nice & light and fast
The Surface Pro 3 came with 64GB of storage and an i5 processor. The Touchscreen is only 10.8 inches but it's big enough for what I want. The screen is clear and bright, but I'm concerned about cracking or scratching it. The 64GB storage is small, but flash drives and SD cards give nearly unlimited storage, so that's OK too. It came with Windows 8, but after a 2 hour download, it now has Windows 10. The computer that I writing with has Windows 7; the laptops next to the tower have XP and somewhere I have one with Windows 98. lightweight and powerful pc!
I bought my 64 gb Microsoft surface 1st gen in 2017, i know with multiple generations of this that i would be able to snag a cheap OG model, and i was right, and i guessed that the 64 gb would be more than enough, given the microsd card slot to be able to expand if need be. Right now sitting here with the surface, i have about 32 gb free, and 40 through micro, so i am sitting pretty. This surface i got came with a touch cover keyboard, while i was not a fan of the keyboard at first, i am able to type pretty much like normal after some getting used to, I managed to snag mine for under $150, if you do get one and you plan on using it to replace your laptop, then maybe swing for the 128 gb model as that will more than likely future proof you in terms of storage.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
