I have a relatively small house, about 1800 sq ft. My internet router is located in the rear corner of my 1st floor, so the 5 Ghz doesn’t reach my bedroom on the second floor opposite corner of the house. I disabled my ISP Wifi I radio and installed thIs Airport Extreme, created a new wireless network, and added a wired Airport Express to extent the 5 GHz SSID. It worked FANTASTIC! It’s a shame that’s Apple stopped making this product, it’s the only product that seems to truly be able to easily extent an existing Apple WiFi network without creating a separate SSID. This AirPort Extreme is only a 4th generation, most likely 10 years old, but it’s the best WiFi my home has ever had! I plan on purchasing a backup, 6th generation A1521 to replace this older Express, but won’t do so until it finally kicks the bucket.Read full review

The AirPort Extreme A1354 4th Generation was ordered because that is what we already had. After realizing the network, here, needed to be extended. Bought a second one to accomplish that task. Making the two Extremes easier to manage because they were identical. Now there is a 5GHz covering our entire property.
