Been wanting this camera for a long time now. It's the perfect size and weight. I love the articulating monitor that is great for video and for stills, being able to angle it towards you when shooting verticals is one of the best parts about it, esp if you are shooting down low on the ground. Having an EVF that tilts up is an added bonus as it allows you to see what you're taking in bright sunlight when you have to shoot below eye level. I have been using an articulating monitor since I got a Canon 60D back when it first came out and really missed it when I bought a GX85. The fact that the GX8 has a bigger sensor and is weather sealed vs the GX85 makes it a real solid camera and purchase for me, even if I lost a couple of features. Highly recommended camera!

Like the GX7 before, this is the updated model with a few more pixels, a little better image quality, 4K video and an articulating screen. A great update to a good little camera! Though the image quality isn't as good as my full-frame mirrorless, for travel and for walking around, it can't be beat! Images are useable for me at ISO 6400 and 12,800 though a little noisy. Color isn't too bad either under difficult conditions. In silent mode, nobody know you are shooting. Walking the street all day, I just don't even notice this little, lightweight camera and neither do the people I photograph along the way. I just wished Panasonic didn't leave this swell camera behind when they did the latest updates. I bought a pair of used GX8 cameras to serve as back-up to my full-frame cameras when traveling and found that for day-to-day shooting, I like them better than the FF cameras for full-day walking the streets!Read full review

Every top useful and convenient feature is built into this camera ! It is really hard to beat. I sold 1 of my Sony a7ll full frame to get this Lumix. The a7II does not have touch screen, for me the menus are hard to navigate and the lenses are heavy. I have bought 2 GX8 and I am loving it. ! Easy to navigate with touch screen, fastest focus with 4k photos, pose focus, double exposure, white balance cures. Unlike other companies, this Lumix t does NOT charge for any other software features or additional Apps, like time lapse, double exposure and other software features. What a GREAT company philosophy ! I find it to be a very advanced camera., more than the top three. This camera is every penny's worth ! GX8 has way more features than a Leica and can use Leica lenses, cost of body is only 1/3 price of Leica For now it does not get better than this !!Read full review

I love the GX8. It has features in it that some newer models didn’t come with. It lacks ibis during video but uses lens stabilization if your lens has it. Overall it is a nice walking around camera and the 4K video output is great.

The new GX8 is a wonderful upgrade from the GX1 which I have owned tor the last five years. The menus are so easy to navigate with many more features and function buttons Using the instruction manual which is on the disc that comes with the camera makes using the many features of the camera quite easy. I like very much the built in live view finder and the fully articulating improved screen. I also find the picture quality obtainable from the improved image sensor a great plus. All in all , I love using this camera. I really like the addition of the built in Wi Fi feature allowing the camera to communicate with my tablet, and allowing the tablet to remotely operate the camera.. Seeing the larger image on the tablet is like operating an old view camera. The ease of operation and the fit in my hand make it a pleasure to carry and use. Although a little larger than my GX1, it still fits snugly in my little camera bag. This is a very high quality camera , producing high quality photos up to 20 x 20 inches. I love itRead full review

I can't speak for the multitude of technical specifications, but from 50 years experience as an intermediate enthusiast, I am very pleased with the quality of images, ease of use, and relatively quick learning curve of the menu system of the Lumix x8. Photographically, I think the quality more than compares with my extended SLR equipment, and certainly is a lot more convenient to carry about. I have found I can handhold with the x8 in situations I wouldn't have previously. Although I already had several of the items, the complete package purchased saved having to shop around for add-ons for specific x8 use. All in all, although I"ll never give them up, I am using my dslr's less and less.

This is one of those cameras which holds up year after year. If you are review all its features and compare those across the board and check image qualtiy and price... The GX8 makes a compelling case.

This is my third micro-four-thirds camera. I started out with a 12 megapixel Olympus, moved over to a Lumix GX1 and now the GX8. Each one was a noticeable improvement over the other. The 20 megapixel sensor is a noticeable improvement over the latter, and don't let anyone tell you different. Auto focusing is fast and accurate. This camera is more advanced than I’ll ever need and has features that will keep me intrigued for a long time. Its a bit larger than my other 4/3rds cameras and I kinda think thats a plus, it just feels right. I was surprised to see it was made in China, nobody seems to mention this, but as far as i can see the build quality is as good as it gets. Reviews have mentioned that the battery life is not what it should be, and I will agree, but now that the camera has been out for a while third party batteries are easily available. For me the GX8 gets two thumbs up, Very pleased!!Read full review

Everything that is good about the GX7 is SUPER on the GX8. The EVF on the GX8 is larger and brighter as is the swiveling touch screen monitor. The GX8 has a vastly improved image stabilizer system, have taken usable hand held photos at 1/6 second. Also the GX8 is a little larger than the GX7, and is easier to hold. I am 73 and all of these improvements make it easier to get great photos. Contrary to what some reviewers have said you will want to use the swiveling electronic view finder (EVF) for low level shots. The quality of the GX8 photos is stunning, and that is using the 14x42mm kit type lens. Have printed several 13x19in prints that look super. The 4K video looks super and the 4K photos extracted are very good and at 30 frames per second with the burst mode you never miss action shots. It is a good idea to get an extra battery as these cameras are a little power hungry For 99% of people wanting a super good camera the GX8 is the ONLY camera you will EVER need..I have only covered a very small amount of the features on this camera, 5 years from now if your looking for a new feature, just look in the owners manual its most likely already there.Read full review

The GX8 is larger than the successor, the GX9. However for those of us with large hands the GX8 is a pleasure to shoot with. The latest firmware update addresses the shutter shock that was initially discussed, and with the firmware update, the images are sharp and clear. I find this to be an enjoyable camera to use and fits in nicely with my collection of Lumix gear.
