    Nice RDS option

I was looking at both the Aimpoint Pro and the Eotech red dot sights. Both are a little more costly than this piece. The red dot that you get with this sight is more similar to the Aimpoint's generated dot, but the viewfinder is squared like in the Eotech offerings. I like the Meprolight because of its bright dot and the larger and wider field of view. It is simple (just 4 brightness settings), and rugged. I also liked that it just requires a standard AA battery, and it has an "auto-off" timer that turns the unit off after 20 minutes of sitting still. Pick up the rifle and the dot comes back on. A nice unit and a more economical choice - especially if you can find these for $300.

    Not what I expected.

As I already own a Meprolight M21 reflex sight I decided to order a Meprolight Tru-Dot Red Dot Sight. I was a little disappointed in the Tru-Dot sight because it seems much more cheaply built. It doesn’t appear as solidly built as the M21. Locking levers seem rather flimsy. It does clamp onto the rail solidly. I’m not sure how much abuse this sight can take. The hood protecting the sight glass appears to be made of some sort of plastic. I do like the sharpness of the red dot. The switch for turning on the sight starts with the brightest setting and then dials down to the Infrared setting. This seems a little backwards to me. I have yet to actually sight it in on my rifle, so I don’t know how well it will hold a zero. I’m not saying this is a bad sight; it just wasn’t as sturdy as I expected to be.

  • It quit after two weeks

I was one of the very first people to get one of these last year and I love it, it works great. I just bought my second one for another M4 that I recently purchased and it died on me before I could even take it out to the range. It was just sitting on the weapon, one day it worked the next day it didn't. I've sent it in for warranty repair. Now I'm concerned that what I considered to be the ultimate red dot could fail so easily. Hopefully it was one of those one in a million duds.

  • All the features I wanted

Superb sight, planning to buy another for my shotgun. You'll be happy you bought this sight. Pros 1. Truly parallax free 2. Very wide field of view 3. No knobs or other protrusions on the side of the sight window to block your view towards the bad guys. 4. Auto-on & off 5. Uses AA battery - always have some at home 6. Elevation and windage adjustments do not require special tools, can use a shell casing. 7. Developed by the IDF, combat proven almost daily. 8. Night vision mode 9. Just four brightness settings, easy to control 10. No problem shooting from dark cover into sunlight, unlike sights that light the reticle with fiber optic or tritium.. 11. Extremely rugged Cons 1. Heavy 2. Costly, but the quality is worth it 3. Tall, will probably require tall iron sights if you want a cowitness on an M4/AR platform. 4. Quick release fittings would not work on my Keltec Sub2000 Gen2. The Keltec's pic rail is too narrow, not to spec. No problem snugging down with a wrench and I never remove it. 5. Too tall to cowitness with stock sights on the Gen2, but I keep my battery fresh and just shoot the red dot, quicker that way.

  • Great sight for Bi-focaled shooters!

I was having trouble getting the front sight in focus with bi-focals, so I thought about red dot sight system, but didn't want to have my slide machined or have to worry about concealed carry problems with a large window coming from my slide. I found this sight system and have been really impressed with how easy it is to acquire a clear sight picture and get on target!

  • Great value

I've seen these going for double the price. It is brand new, bright as can be. I won't have to replace this for at least ten years.

  • red dot not bright

i bought this sight to replace eotech that had poor battery life. the tru-dot seemed to fit the bill until i went to use it and dot was barely bright enough on its highest setting on a overcast day. when i went to use it on a day after it had snowed the dot completely washed out.i had a second tru-dot ordered and when it came it did the same thing.

  • Best RedDot Sight for the price.

I'm really impressed with this product. High quality, excellent view port, easy of operation. As good or better than product at twice the price. I plan on getting another one. You won't be disappointed.

  • Poor Quality

Used the Sig Sight Adjustment Tool to install. The sight was extremely tight going in and directions are sketchy at best. Removed and filed a slight adjustment in hopes of keeping sight tight on gun. Began installing for second time and sight cracked. If you purchase take to gunsmith but consider that price on top of the purchase of sight. For me it was $170 flushed down the toilet with never using it once.

  • Excellent red dot sight

I have bought multiple scopes and red dot sights in the past, but this has to be the best one by far. I use this red dot with both eye open, and even with contacts, the dot is crisp and clear. Sight area is extra large and uses a standard double A battery.
