SynopsisAuthor Michael Sandford is a 50+ years Arizonian who has made the Black Canyon area, where Rock Springs is located, his home. Michael's desire to present documented factual history started as a teen, writing articles for newspapers such as the Black Canyon Times, and Arizona Republic. Later Canyon Country News and Foothills Focus, as a free-lance photographer and reporter. He has researched and written about Arizona history, for better than twenty-five years, with his work published in many Arizona newspapers. His representation of Rock Springs is documented and factual from the view of the Warner family. He included dozens of photos from the family archives and historical societies. He is one of three founding members of the Black Canyon Historical Society, the only one living. As Dolan Ellis states in his testimonial for this book, "Rock Springs is a place of great pies, down home cookin' and "get down fun". I think of it that way, too. But for me, it runs much deeper. When I think about the generations upon generations of people who have stopped there to find comfort and rest, it sends my mind a-flyin'. I see the shadows and the tracks of those people out of Arizona history...from our ancient prehistoric Indians, to mountain men, pioneer families, women with babies, cowboys, stage coaches, outlaws, military soldiers, prospectors, secret lovers, and not so secret lovers. Imagine...if those rocks could only speak." Michael Sandford is also the author of "Black Canyon City - A Thimble of History" published 1998. He also is an award winning poet and photographer. His most recent book of poetry titled, "Knick Knacks and Notions" was published 1999. Another of his books provides a history story, in "The Last Stagecoach Ride" and is based on a true story., Author Michael Sandford is a 50+ years Arizonian who has made the Black Canyon area, where Rock Springs is located, his home.
