Half the time I don't know what they're talking about, the language and concepts are so foreign to my "Western" way of thinking. That's not a criticism, just a limitation of my world-view up to now. This book challenges many of the foundational ways I have been brought up to think and believe, which is at times very painful (and I bought the book because I was already in pain because things had fallen apart in my life). There are chapters that make no sense at all, perhaps because my mind and soul are not yet ready for what they have to offer. There are other chapters whose words pierce deeply and whose truths resonate, which is why I have not put this book down despite it being a difficult read. I feel there is much insight to gain and wisdom to learn if I will allow myself to not 'shut down' simply because I don't appreciate my initial response to what I am reading. Read full review

When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron is inspirational and positive despite the title. I loved this book and I highly recommend reading it. I walked away with a fresh view of how I want to live my life moving forward. Thank you Pema!
