French writer-director Jean-Marie Poiré retools his 1993 European box-office hit comedy, LES VISITEURS, with the two original stars, Jean Reno (THE PROFESSIONAL) and Christian Clavier (who co-wrote both films and is France's answer to Jim Carrey) reprising their roles. On the eve of his wedding, 12th Century knight Count Thibault of Malfete (Reno), mistakenly kills his beloved Princess Rosalind (Christina Applegate), while under an evil spell. Grief-stricken, Thibault enlists a wizard (Malcolm McDowell) to send him back in time to avert the murder. When the wizard's potion malfunctions, Thibault and his faithful servant, André (Clavier) are deposited in 21st Century Chicago, where they meet museum curator Julia Malfete (Applegate), who is the living image of Rosalind. Believing Thibault to be an eccentric cousin, Julia takes the bewildered Frenchmen home, where they encounter (and destroy) a vast array of modern conveniences. Desperate to return to his proper time, Thibault enlists Julia's help against the wishes of her controlling, money-hungry fiancé, Hunter (Matthew Ross). Meanwhile, André falls for a pretty, free-spirited gardener, Angelique (Tara Reid). They're Not Just From Another Time, They're from France
I had this title on DVD after seeing it in recent years on cable TV. I traded my DVD for a BD hoping to get more. Only the movie is present and I believe that at least one scene uses an alternate take or edit. Picture and audio are fine in Dolby Digital. It's a shame they did not include the trailer. The film starts immediately; you have to select the menu with your remote if you need it. A knight and his servant are accidentally transported almost nine centuries into the next millennium after a horrible accident caused by a curse. People give this negative reviews. I cannot understand why when I enjoyed this so much. It's genuinely funny and at times sad. An ancestor actually helps his descendant find her courage and that is the most positive thing I learned from this movie. I love it and if you don't take it too seriously, you will too. I love that scene with the horse chase in Chicago and then running inside the metropolitan train. If you are a fan of Jean Reno and the lovely Christina Applegate you should have this in your collection.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
