Core i7-4790K, the prime of the Haswells.
This is the prime flagship CPU for the 4th generation Intel Core (code named Haswell). The Core i7 means the top of what is in the hands of the pro/consumer. Despite I bought this in 2016, 4th generations are still capable of handling today's demanding computing needs just as the current 6th generation (code named Skylake) and the newly released 7th generation (code named Kaby Lake). Pros: - Easy to install! Just put into the socket, put the thermal grease on, mount a cooling system of your choice. Turn on your computer and after a BIOS check, it's ready to go. - Balance - Overall, any 4th generation Core i7 is probably suited for those who want power but are short on the price. I can still run top name games and heavy programming with minimal stuttering time. Cons - Power consumption: It can be quite power hungry, ventilation is something to consider. A better CPU fan or cooling might be considered - Price: After 2 years of being released, it is still considered pricey against other Core processors and possibly AMD's - Future outlook: As Intel goes from the 6th generation to the 7th generation, demand and support 4th generation are dwindling. So, buying this could mean no support. Even though I listed 2 pros and 3 cons, I don't regret making this purchase in 2016. I usually plan to build my on systems to make it last for a long time. My previous one lasted over 8 years before I decided to start anew. Anyways, this is a great purchase for those whose who want to extend the life of their current computer whose are socket type are still LGA 1150 or have any Core name that starts with a number of 4XXX.

When you need the best - Core i7
Absolutely phenomenal processor. I do heavy gaming and this thing supplies my GPU with all the data it needs to get maximum frames. I upgraded from a Core i5 and the hyperthreading is noticeable - everything is snappier. There's absolutely no comparison to the i7 of whatever generation.
