The 14th game in the Nobunaga's Ambition series, Sphere of Influence puts users in control of a feudal lord attempting to unify a war-torn Japan. During each scenario players can view their holdings on a 3D map and quickly navigate to other territories as they acquire them through battle or diplomacy. Diplomatic options include the ability to form alliances, broker peace between warring clans, manipulate enemy officers, and influence other clans into fighting one another.<br><br>Battles can take place during the day or night and often involve large armies of soldiers engaging in melee combat. There are two viewpoints during battle sequences. From a bird's-eye view leaders can strategically command their troops on the best routes to take across the battlefield, issuing defensive stances, ordering pincer attacks, and more. Switching to the close-up view provides details on the terrain and weather conditions, and puts players in direct control of their forces.
