The first expansion for Civilization's sci-fi offshoot, Rising Tide offers new ocean-based gameplay, new traits, four new factions, and two new biomes. Gamers can now expand their colonies into the ocean, with the new floating settlements giving them access to more resources and new avenues of gameplay, but also introducing them to water-dwelling alien beasts. A new diplomacy system adds Fear and Respect leader attributes, players can choose from four new colonization sponsors, and the two new biomes include young planets full of volcanic activity, and older worlds encased in ice.Product Identifiers

This missing piece of the puzzle.
When Beyond Earth came out it was exciting but felt incomplete. The IA function of the game became predictable and simple strategies could be taken to achieve success. By adding rising tides, I found it more challenging as interactions and keeping the peace was a must to allow your civilization time to grow. On the upper levels IA logic keeps up to pace and makes life on a new world much more challenging. The additional expeditions and options to expand on the sea what the icing on the cake and what I would play for a single day or two has become an adventure to hold my ground for a week or two or more. Love the new graphics and if I had one recommendations, it would be to have consequences put in place for destroying any local life or planet growth. Don't disturb or destroy your new home or it may cost your civilization it's chances of survival.
