These use digital Wi Fi transmission. Occasional very slight signal break up depending on heavy Wi Fi city surroundings. A bit bulky and heavy, but good long range, even when not direct line of sight. No visible or flimsy antenna. I use these with Rode VXLR connectors into my prosumer camcorders and digital audio recorder. Most of the time they work perfectly and pair very easily. Flexible padding adjustments reduce audio hiss adequately. Comes with owners manual, sturdy belt clip, removable hotshoe mounts, small accessory bag holding tie clip, foam and furry windscreens, and short coiled miniplug cable. All cables screw in securely. Make sure you buy from authorized Rode dealer to register for 2 year warranty. Good customer service when I inquired about problem I had plugging these into my Sony camcorder shotgun XLR block. Turns out I had to plug the receiver of this lav mic (via VXLR) into Input 1, and the Sony shotgun into Input 2 in order to get both working simultaneously in auto or manual gain. I can also use both Rode lavs at same time on Ch1 and 2 XLR separate inputs. Can also be plugged into camcorder or DSLR minijack input but more susceptible to auto gain hiss than XLR manual gain control. Far better run and gun audio solution for me than Rode Video Mic mounted on camera or hiring separate shotgun boom guy. I recommend these if you need clean audio quality at affordable cost.Read full review

On the first paid shoot I attempted to use this particular model on, I experienced low level noise and intermittent dropouts. I was using another rodelink, which did not suffer the same issues. It's a problem with this particular model I got from Music Square Deals. Beware of buying used!

The Rode RodeLINK Filmmaker Kit Lavalier Mic DSLR Camera-Mounted Receiver Wireless, has to be the simplest mid-range priced Wireless Lav Mic system around, had them up and running in under 3 minutes. Sound quality is excellent and the range in exceptional. While some are not fond of the included Lav mic I can tell you it's had to beat the fact they include it with the set and I find no issue with it. IMHO you can't go wrong with this set up for cost minded person or professional getting started.

Super easy to set up, especially in the field. Fairly lightweight and compact. Excellent sound quality and a range of about 300 feet. The digital nature of it precludes a lot of "static" or noise, and even if you have to change frequencies or bands its very easy. This is pro level equipment at about half the price of the non-digital systems that are on the market. This thing's a winner!

I grabbed three of these once I'd put one of them through some testing. This is the first time I've heard a lavalier that really helped out with untreatable interview spaces. I've been that guy who brings stacks of sound blankets and C-stands to try to build a little sound booth around my shooting space to try to kill reflections in a hard, rectilinear space. My first tests in a familiar and unforgiving space were a real surprise, sounding like we were in an acoustically-treated room. I don't want to oversell this aspect, but I was really, really impressed. Coupled with how easy the setup is, these are winners. I suppose you have to make your peace with stocking and using disposable batteries, but I'm in the camp that would prefer a solution that allows for 'emergency' power that can be found at any convenience store.Read full review
