This chapter of the Far Cry series has fewer spoken elements which changes the immersive aspect of the game. The game environment is full of wildlife, it's an amazing feel to hunt and track wild game. Combat in open areas works wonderfully, the entire map of the game is extraordinary with little repetition in terrain and the environment is not easy to move through. All in all, a very realistic and fun experience with the definite familiarity of the other Far Cry titles.

After purchasing all the previous Far Cry games for PC I became aware that each one was superior to the previous title so when Primal became available I expected it to surpass my most recent Far Cry 4 experience. That was not at all what happened. Spending most of the time fending off dogs trying to make sense of the far too numerous plants, skins, trees and bags hanging in branches that contain nothing I can use, but cost me extremely valuable ammo to retrieve, made it very frustrating. The insane amount of controls in the keyboard layout will make you dizzy. It is impossible to change any controls because most every key is used. I reached the point in the game where I have to tame a wolf by throwing meat to him. The control to throw meat refuses to function. I tried resetting to defaults and changing keys but nothing works. That is where I ran out of patience and decided I was simply ripped off by Ubisoft and this game is now a poor paper weight at best. There are also controls/keys listed that are not even on my keyboard! Try playing with that handicap! Save your money.....Far Cry 4 blows this crap away! Read full review

Primal is a "new" gameplay for Far Cry.. It's a "simulation" of our imagined prehistoric cave days.. probably not accurate, but it gives a "feel" for those times. I doubt if EVERYTHING "outside" the cave was trying to kill cavemen...but, I wasn't really there. It takes some time to get used to the play system and "crafting" ..it's designed for game consoles and requires both internet and a Uplay membership to function at all. I don't "like" dependency on the net for a game.. (or anything really) I'm also playing on a PC.. which often makes the key presses awkward. Still.. one is building a Tribe.. one gets a chance to befriend some predator animals and work with them.. novel, refreshing, a bit "different".. gives a chance to become a "Beastmaster" like none before it.

From the unlocks/upgrades to the whole primal environment, there's a lot of fun stuff to do. I was a bit skeptical at first, because the lack of guns, but the bow/arrow still shoots pretty quickly and I normally prefer the weapons with a slightly slower but more powerful/accurate shot for headshots in shooting games anyways. The graphics are also really good, especially when using the GTX 970 graphics card and turning up the settings all the way. I'm only about 70% through the game, but it's been a great adventure so far.

Great game. The only problem I have is that the game would not install from the discs. I had to download the game from Ubisoft and then use the code that came with the discs to activate it.
