This Kindle will do everything that a PC, will do. In fact, I haven't turned on mine for months. What is really nice about an 8.9" HDX, is the Mayday feature. You click on it, an actual person that you can see will pop up in the corner of your screen. They can see your screen only and can maneuver around. You tell them what you are wanting to do, or where to find something......basically anything you can do with a Kindle. They will take control and show you where to click, where to go and what to do. In the six years that I have owned an HDX, not once have they not been able to solve what I was looking to do. I would NEVER buy a Kindle without this feature.....unless it is the smaller 7" that I have that I throw in my purse to read when I go somewhere. Just make sure that if you buy one it is an actual 8.9" HDX as I had to return two in one week, they both were 7" HDX and don't have Mayday. Plus there is also an 8.9" HD, that doesn't have Mayday.Read full review

This is a great tablet, superior to the Kindle Fire 7" in my opinion. The screen is larger, obviously, super sharp display, and finally you can group your books into collections. The processor is faster than previous versions, and with 32 GB memory I can have music, audiobooks, magazines, and games saved to the device AND surf the web. My only complaint is that the wi-fi drains the battery. When just reading with wi-fi turned off, though, the battery lasts more than 8 hours.

Honestly I can only write good things about the Fire HDX. I wanted a tablet since ages, and it was hard to decide between Apple or Kindle. All my electronics are Apple products, but the iPads just cost too much compare to any other tablet. I read a lot, so it was important a good selection of books through Amazon. It is very user friendly, the battery last days, it is very light, you can download tons of applications and it doesn't slow down. It is still pretty new for me, but all I can say I love it.

Well, the product I purchased through Ebay was not the product I ended up purchasing for another reason. However, I have purchased a very similar product: Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 32 GB Wi-Fi 8.9 inch Black that also had the optional 4G LTE Wireless (AT&T). First things first, if you like the Kindle Fire HD---you are going to be CRAZY about the HDX!!!! I am not usually a "beta testing" type person---I usually like for a product to have been out for a while and have the bugs figured out before I invest but because of unmentionable things, I decided to spend a little more and try to trust again. WOW-what beautiful clarity and what a wonderful piece of equipment!!! The color clarity is fabulous and they have made some corrections in the way this tablet works. I have the Kindle Fire HD 7" and it is very nice but my new tablet is much better. Because I am not twenty any more-the larger tablet is easier to hold and if you are using the Amazon Prime(and you would be crazy not to!)the streaming movies look and sound sooooo much better! There are more options and the OS seems more in keeping with my tastes. My husband has the Nexus and he is an engineer and he seems to prefer his but has remarked more than once that my Kindle Fire HDX does more things than his tablet. My new tablet cost more than the one I ordered originally. Word to the wise: If something looks or sounds like the price is too good to be true---trust me, it probably is. Do your due diligence-check around to find out what your tablet is sold for by the maker and expect to pay that amount. Also, one of the things that I believe you should know is that you might pay a little more for a tablet without their "special offers"-you also have less 'stuff' to get in your way of reading, movies, music and internet. If you have questions-call Amazon. It could save your having to return your tablet because you did not clearly understand what the reduced price entailed. The staff at Amazon are the best professionals I have ever had the pleasure dealing with. Call them-at any hour-they can keep you from wasting time and money by asking questions. There are no stupid questions. Absolutely buy the Kindle Fire HDX-whether it be the smaller or the larger. You will not be disappointed. And prepare to have a boatload of fun with your new toy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Read full review
This was a replacement for my Kindle Fire HD that I broke. I'm very happy with it! I especially appreciate the image quality. The resolution is higher than the newer/smaller models which is why I choose it. I really like the size. I don't often have to enlarge the images to see them well as you would have to on a smaller screen.

I have every generation of kindle and have given them all away to my family members because this does it all. Processor is ridiculously fast. HDMI allows for netflix on the tv. Just an amazing product the only kindle you need until they come out with a new HDX. Buy you wont regret it.

I have had a smaller Kindle Fire for over two years and was pleased with it---but wanted a somewhat larger screen size and two cameras. This Fire HDX 8.9 has really filled that bill and then some. I am very pleased with all of its features as a Third Generation Kindle.

Designed for Amazon instant video junkies, and best in class of the Fires that I've tried. Quick and reliable. Much improved over the 3rd generation: lighter and faster. Insurance a must, however, as they are sensitive, easily upset.

I love the Kindle! It was well worth the purchase. I had been considering a laptop but the portability of this is so much better. I use it mostly when I am relaxing in bed to shop or email so it is very light weight and easy to hold. If I need to do word processing I can just use my desktop. Haven't read any books yet or Magazines but I'm sure that will be great too- as the screen size and clarity are great!
I have been using my KFF for about a month now and have a few complaints, the battery life being the most irritating. Because it only lasts 5-6 hours I usually leave it charging even when using it. Another inconvenience is I can't keep more than nine sites available for one click use at any one time. The last problem, though minor, is the keyboard. To use any punctuation you have to keep switching from letters to numbers. On the plus side the instant help is just that, insantantaneous. I also like the rotating screen and the ability to increase the size of a site for easier reading. Just a thought, you should include a clear screen cover. After covering my screen with fingerprints, I put my KFF back in it's packing bag which works fine. (I never remember to purchase a cover when out) Even though I've listed numerous complaints, I'm basically pleased with the unit which is used on a daily basis.Read full review
