A piece of history
We can experience many things from the history preserved by those who lived through good times and challenging circumstances. Nina Markovna was a young girl who experienced Salins Russia as well as Hitler's war. She recorded the human struggle of the people torn apart . She only wrote one book, and I found it compelling. As a young girl in the Midwest growing up in the 50's, I had a fearful view of "the Russian". My view was shaped by air raid drills, maps of our cities evacuation routes if the Russians attacked General fear to even speak the word "Russia -Communism" shadowed our thoughts, a legacy left by Mcarthism. This book opened the silence, and a desire to learn more. Decades have past, I've been to Siberia and spoke to many who lived through the Soviet experiment. This book unlocked the secret for me, it may for you.
