Disappointing
I have been a big fan of the Golden Girls since it was first broadcast, so I was really looking forward to reading this book. From the description, I thought there would be more descriptions of what happened during the filming of the shows, what the actresses thought of some of the episodes, etc. Instead, it seemed that the author's emphasis was on gay characters and how the show openly accepted the gay community. The first third of the book was focused on how gays embraced the show. Then there was a section devoted to drag impersonators of the four characters. I don't care if that is the path the author wanted to take, but it should have been clear in the description of the book instead of describing it as "a comprehensive behind the scenes look at the series."
