Upgrade your cheap Battery Charger
I have several RV Chargers / Power Supplies; all are the Powermax brand. I have a Hydraulic Crane with Parallel twin 12 Volt Batteries. It sits outside year around because of its size. In the past I would take out both batteries and keep them on Trickle Charge all Winter to keep them from freezing. The hassle to remove Batteries on all outdoor equipment became too great. Because of its compact size, I was able to instal the 100 Amp RV Battery Charger (PM3-100LK) inside the Battery Box and now I just run a Power Cord out to the Crane. The Powermax RV Chargers have two setting so I recommend the Automatic Charge Rate. The Charger will automatically kick into high Amperage mode when the Batteries are low then switch to middle Charge rate when the Batteries are nearing full charge. When the Batteries are fully charged the Charge rate is automatically switched to Trickle Charge so the Batteries can be left connected to the Charger indefinitely. If you have one of those Big Battery Chargers on wheels, I recommend removing the junk Charger from inside and installing one of these RV Battery Chargers. Just hook it up to the dead Battery and walk away. You don't worry about overcharging or burning something up. I've converted two of mine so far and it is absolutely the perfect upgrade.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Unit failed after 10 days. The first Powermax I had failed within 6 months. This one failed after 10 days. Price is good but failure rates are high for these units, which offsets the price. The higher the output power the greater the failure rate.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
