This is a well made machine and built like a tank. Espresso machines are always fairly expensive, but this one is built well for the money when comparing it to its peers. Only downside to this machine is that the steamer wand does get a little messy in that it has a tendency to spatter all over the place so you have to be careful trying not to make a mess, maybe this is because it's just so powerful that it has tons of pressure. I also own a Jura fully automatic which is good too in that it doesn't make a mess with grounds etc.. but there are pros and cons. With the Simoneli you have to have the machine on for approx 25 min just to warm it up. With the Jura automatic it takes all but 40 seconds. The Jura is a more sophisticated machine and you should be someone mechanically inclined to fix otherwise it will cost a fortune to run and it requires a lot of maintennance and you've got a lot of plastic parts on it. Having said that though I don't regret the buying decision as this suit my needs for a much a higher volume of people that I will be serving. If you are thinking of purchasing this machine for 1 or 2 people to use I don't think it's that practical and I would be more inclined to do with a fully automatic. But one last thing I will say is that the coffee is better and more quality controlled with every cup with the simonelli.Read full review
