A Better Design
On my truck's 5.0 liter engine, I couldn't get a reliable watertight seal using the OEM housing. I saw this one uses a O-ring gasket. I smoothed out a thin layer of form-a-gasket on the manifold side and put this housing on. That was 5 years ago. It has held fast. The one I bought that this review should be for, I bought because I had suspected the thermostat was failing. It wasn't and the old one is still in place. I know this spare will perform as well.

You get what you pay for. I didn't wanna spend a lot on such a common, simple part. But after this pot metal junker showed up, I might just make one. Nice to have the o-ring design and the finish is really good. But I have a feeling it's going to pit out in no time flat.
