I am a Vietnam vet having served with the Navy in the Mekong Delta as a Huey door gunner during 1971-72. We operated from remote sites and got to know the locals well. When we left in Feb. 1971, I wondered what the fate of my contacts would be, and why we were in the mess we were in. This book answered many questions as to how & why were in their country to rescue Vietnam from the Vietnamese. I would hope our political leaders would read this book so it won't happen again. Once I began reading, couldn't stop until I finish! It is a well written, easy read. The author repeats himself in some places, but that is expected to connect the story. For the '60's history buff, a "must read" and goes will with my collection.
Awesome Book! I learned so much today that I did not know when I was In Vietnam in 67-68.

This is an important and definitive work on the Vietnam experience. I found most of the information here unavailable (for reasons that will be clear if you read the book) elsewhere. The many tables and lists appear to be well researched and contain facts that will probably surprise and maybe shock most that see them here, especially those who did not serve in the Vietnam conflict. A must read!!! Cdr. Roger S. Stasiak, MSC, USN-ret.
great book, very good reasearch and written perfect, saw it and heard about it for quite a while and finally was able to buy it for my husband who served in vietnam
