I would not recommend
It holds the thread like it is supposed to. On the negative side, it's cheap plastic and falls over because it is so lightweight - the bottom is not weighted at all. If you are sewing something that advances behind your machine, it knocks it over easily or moves it. I should have read the description before buying.

Surprisingly great value
Didn’t really anticipate very much from this product, when I saw that it was plastic. Much to my surprise, it really held up well with constant sewing. Fully expected it to fall apart, but it did not! Great buy!
