Good value product
I recommend this tool for anyone who loves making their own home-made hard taco shells. I bought this for my dad because we have a special family tradition taco night, but the process of making hard tacos was always a tedious one. This tool cut the time it takes to make all the shells in half! It's also a lot easier to submerge the tortillas into a pan of grease rather than using other standard tongs where the tortilla can easily slip out of grip. This contraption holds the tortilla firmly in place. I bought this for a very cheap price but it's a great value and doesn't seem to be cheaply made. Taco Prongs with issues
It's a good concept, but it sticks to the shells and tears up during removal. Preheating the prongs in the oil before picking up the raw shells would help. I tried several ways to get them to stop sticking - putting the shell in the hot oil then quickly and awkwardly use the prongs to grab before rigidity of the shell started. This makes the taco shells much easier. I had to modify just a little so that the shells are not so opened that when you take a bite it isn't so wide. Other than that this was a great buy. Great product with one exception
I read reviews on this product before I bought it and, although I had reservations, I went ahead and ordered it because the price was low. What I decided to do was cut off the handles when it arrived so I could drop the body of the product into my 1/2" of oil; otherwise, you have to have a pot full of oil.
