Good tv
For the money it's a good TV but there are some frustrations. First, the edge lighting is noticeable. You get a more pronounced glow in some spots. Second, the darks are not as black as I'd hope. Lastly, the touchpad remote only works about 50% of the time. I then have to unplug the TV to reset. That's annoying. On the bright side the operating system is great, the picture is wonderful, and the wifi is strong. For the price, it is a good 4k TV. Great image, features and price
After searching for nearly 8 months for the best 4k monitor I could afford, I settled upon the XBR-55x850c. I'm glad I did. Everything about the TV has met or exceeded my expectations with the possible exception of the built in speakers. The image quality is excellent both for 4k content and upscaled 720p/1080p content. The android TV OS and interface is easy to navigate and feels zippy in comparison to some smart TVs I've played with. The pre-loaded apps are a minor annoyance and if you want to invest the time there are ways to hide some (if not all) of them. An added nicety for me is the inclusion of HDMI CEC which allows me to control my Raspberry Pi based media center using the tv remote. Bluetooth connectivity for my headphones is a nice feature too for when I want to watch tv but not disturb my daughter after her bedtime (she's easily woken by sounds). Speaking of sound, my only negative with this tv is the quality of the audio from the built in speakers. Quite honestly it's pretty lousy sounding tinny and thin. THis is not a problem for me as I tend to watch TV using my audio receiver and surround speaker setup, but for those who wish to use only the built in speakers, you'll be underwhelmed by them. This is true for many tv's though. Finally a comment on value. In my opinion this is by far the best 3D capable 4k TV for the price. That said, it should be noted that the tv does not ship with any 3D glasses so if that's important to you (it was for me as one of the reasons I purchased this is to be able to view my personally shot 3D photos) then expect to add between $20 and $40 per pair of active 3D glasses to your total cost of ownership. Still, this stays very reasonable and by not including the glasses in the box you're free to purchase them down the road if you're not sure you want that feature and save some $'s upfront. Great 4K TV at a great price! Has just about every feature!
Firstly..I love Sony products. My Sony plasma died after 10 years and so I picked up this XBR-55850C for a great deal. Has every feature I could think of.. 4K, HDR, 3D, Android/Google Powered, IR Blaster,...goes on and on. Picture is very good.. but it is a Matte Finished screen and appeals to true videophiles..not the over-bright look of a TV in Best Buy!! Great image quality
Excellent TV set, lightweight and with great image quality. Great for movies, and very good for sports as well (my favorite viewing activities); good upscaling of non-HD sources. Only (minor) issues are off-angle viewing and some light bleed at the lateral edges (I know both issues as are typical of VA panel and an edge-lit LED TV, but I come from a plasma TV that had none of those, so I noticed them more). Other than that, image quality and color rendition are truly impressive, and 3D seems to work well too (not a big fan, but it comes with it, so why not?). I had no problem connecting to my wi-fi network, and everything seems to work well when streaming movies and similar content. The TV also looks good when not on, understated and not too bulky. Awesome 4k t.v
Upscales all my content to 4k resolution, ps4 works well with the t.v and blu rays and games run smooth too , reading about 4k gaming on ps4 , they say it's not that great but c.o.d black ops 3 runs pretty smooth with 2 players offline and 4 players online and haven't noticed any lag , runs smooth , the smart remote is cool , has voice search on the smart remote and a regular remote as well , very nice tv , bought 2 sets of active 3d glasses and the 3d runs smooth too , no complaints at all , this tv is just plain awesome. Very dark picture. Most modes are dark.

First bad Sony TV
