The shipping for this product is fast. The review is base on the Ozobot Evo itself.
The concept is quite good, but the overall product need work.
I got a Ozobot Evo and Bit.
Pros:
-With the Avengers pack, you could download the EVO app on your phone or tablet to run remote control the Evo.
-There are some Avenger games that come with the app which is cool
-Evo does make cool lights and sounds
Cons:
-The app have a very hard time updating firmware with Evo using the app, and there are no usb firmware upgrade. Contact Support and they claim they are working on it but no timeline has been set when it will be available.
-The app doesn't work with older version of android, my galaxy 4 active, galaxy tab 2 and galaxy note 10.1 are not able to download the app via google play store, only my galaxy tab-a works.
- Have trouble with OzoGroove. This is suppose to be a app that let the Ozobot learn how to dance after you put in some program, saddly, it does not work with Evo. I try it with the Ozobot bit, it was able to learn the move no issue, but Evo could not understand the command. After talking with Support, they said I have to update the firmware, but as stated before, I have issue upgrading the Evo
- Commands are sensitive. This is true for both Bit and Evo. The Ozobot take command base on color scheme, but if you make the line/dots too big or too small, the Ozobot will have trouble reading the commands. Also, if the bot is running too fast, it also have trouble reading the commands
Overall,
I think it's a good idea for the kids, but the Ozobot need some work mostly on the app side. If they are able to do USB download firmware and fix the bugs maybe this product will be a lot more fun. Hopefully the company will fix these problem soon.
