As an experienced seamstress I bought this book hoping it would have some great ideas on how to upcycle and change average clothing into something unique. I was disappointed because the first half of the book is geared mostly for someone who has very limited sewing experience. Using a seam ripper, hemming and simple alterations such as taking in wide pant legs or shortening a shirt are basic sewing skills that you should have mastered years ago before attempting to alter any clothing. A few of the "ideas" to change up a piece of clothing in this book consists of adding patches to elbows, swapping the sleeves on a shirt, changing flared pants to skinny and removing sleeves from a blouse . Personally I think this book is more of a learn to alter pieces of clothing using very basic sewing skills for a beginner and for a that I say it is well done. As far as creativity goes, this book lacks what I was hoping for.Read full review
