  • This CBR500R lowering kit Lowers a CB500X a full 2", Improved handling, cornering and riding stance.

Great quality product. I needed to lower my girlfriends CB500X and the adjustable lowering kits I tried I didn't like the fitment or didn't trust them. This kit is for a Honda CBR500R so I figured it would work on a CB500X and lower it more than the 1.125 inches it states when installed on a CBR500R and I was right! This kit worked perfectly and lowered my girlfriends bike at the seat by a full 2 inches bringing the seat height to 30 inches or around 29.4 inches when sitting on it. I feel it's handling, riding stance and cornering have improved a lot with this kit too. My girlfriend is very happy with her new bike now that she can flat foot the bike at stops and agrees that it corners and rides better than before. The quality allowed me to torque everything down to the factory 44 Nm easily so I know it's safe. IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure to pack grease into the needle bearings in the bone link and shock while you have everything apart because it's obvious that the factory didn't grease them. They were bone dry! I'd venture to say they wouldn't last 10k mi. before seizing up. All better now that they're packed with grease and will last a long time. Why does this kit lower a CB500X more than a CBR500R you ask?.. From the factory a CBR500R sits lower than a CB500X. This is most likely due in part to the difference in the dimensions of the factory triangle links used on the bikes, so by using a lowering triangle link for a CBR500R in a CB500X you are raising the swing-arm even more than if you used one for a CB500X, thereby lowering the seat height of the bike, in this case by a full 2 inches... measured.

  • Much improvement in bike control with these links.

This simple and well-made product did lower my Honda CB-500F by over an inch. There are no instructions but I have been working on motorcycles since 1953 and it was not hard to decipher. It seems very simple just to connect the links to the Frame, shock absorber and swing arm, but there is a good bit of wrestling involved. A center stand is necessary during the installation. Swing arm stands are not suitable for this job. The shock absorber pre-load should be backed off completely. This will allow the three components to be moved into alignment with the holes in the links, which necessarily are located slightly differently than the original links. Adjustable links would have been much easier to fit, but there are too many reports of these failing to have allowed me to use them. The Vortex links are effective and should be totally safe in long use. My Honda is much more manageable for me now that I easily can "flatfoot" at stops.
