I purchased a Lenovo y50 70 with a crashed drive for a song 2 yrs ago. I installed a new OS(Ubuntu) and in love with it's speed and graphics. Then three months ago both my laptops (I have an upgraded Latitude as well) died the Lenovo needed a new motherboard, and the Dell need it's hard drive replaced. As I waited for the motherboard arrive I put the 2TB drive out of the Lenovo in my Dell worked better than ever. A little too slow for Macbook Pro 2011
I do alot of mobile recording/production on DAWs, for me, its just too slow to be used as an internal drive for a macbook pro 2011, even Safari was giving me a hard time, and my original 750gb standard seagate HDD was faster than this 2tb barracuda, im just gonna use this barracuda as an external drive with an enclosure for backing up files, and put an SSD in my macbook. This thing was super cheap and a great buy! 2 tb will give my 2011 macbook pro plenty of space for what I need. And I have seen speeds hover around 130MB/s read and 30-60MB/s write. It's not very loud at all but I can hear it a bit when it is running.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

I didnt remember the 2.5" drives being this thin, but they are really thin. So far its working great. I have it in a IODD case that allows me to write protect, encript and mount both hard drive and .iso files as Optical Disks (CD, DVD,Blue Ray) the drive is quite. Since its a hard drive even if you hook it to a USB 3 hub you may still need to have it powered. Especially if you have more than one item in your hub.
