Laser performs as expected for a low-end economy priced laser engraver. One cannot expect high-quality productivity from a laser engraver at this price point. My primary objection is with the extremely poor assembly instructions. There were only 8 pages with very low resolution photocopied images. There were no written instructions. This product is only suitable for a true DIYer and you had better think like "MacGyver." I'm good and it took me almost three hours to assemble it. None of the parts were labeled and there was not even an exploded illustration to show where anything went. There was a lot of room for error. For example, there are numerous spacers and screws of various lengths but there was no indication of which to use in each application. I intend to disassemble it and shoot a video to put online to make assembly easier for others who choose to buy this product. All in all it is not a bad laser engraver as long as your expectations are not too high. Honestly, what can one expect for about $100 including shipping other than better assembly instructions?Read full review

This was an easy, low-cost addition to my iDraw plotter. Take note that as a 5 Volt laser, you must NOT plug it in to the "laser output" on the iDraw control board - that is a 12 Volt output and the polarity is switched, even though it looks like the plug would fit right in. Rather, use the 5 Volts supplied to the servo, either with a servo splitter wire or your own wiring. My laser arrived with some difficulty focusing. I just had to unscrew the lens and reposition it, then it worked fine. I have slowed down my plotter and can cut shapes in dark paper. For my wiring, I put a servo splitter wire near the servo, so that the servo would still function as pen up/down. I used the new servo lead (black & red) as laser power. I inserted the laser just as I would a pen, into the thumbscrew holder. The laser is on all the time, focused when in the "pen down" position, then unfocused in "pen up." The laser body does get warm- I wouldn't leave it on for more than 30 minutes, but I haven't tested to see how long, or how hot. In my photo, I am cutting the letter "H" in comic-sans font.Read full review
