Lightweight and sturdy.
This shovel is great for metal detecting. It's fairly light weight, but very sturdy. It's perfect for digging in hard soil. The only complaint I have is the black paint or powder coating started coming off on the first dig and has continued ever since. Maybe it is not meant to stay on. I don't know. We clean and dry it after each use to prevent rust. It's such a good shovel I'm willing to look over that.
