I had one of these for most of my life. I believe I was 15 when I first got one. Every night, it would lay next to my bed, and I'd set the SLEEP setting for radio music to lull me into dream world. I also often recorded songs from the radio to tape, making mixtapes during a time long after such a practice was relevant. While it was great for a 15 year old and was used for around 2 years, I can't say good things for durability. I never transported it, it simply sat there on the floor where I didn't walk. Parts broke off it routinely, to the point neither the CD player nor the cassette deck functioned properly. I was particularly depressed once the CD player straight up refused to read CDs anymore. So what was good about it? Radio reception was always fantastic, and I never had the aerial snap on me. SLEEP mode was the most used feature, and I depended on it to help me get rest. I'm only writing this review because I found it in my closet, and finally said goodbye. It was only in there because everything but the radio stopped truly working. Now full of nostalgia, I'll happily get another boombox. But if you think a used one of these is some kind of grail, it isn't. In all likelihood, the mechanism to open both the CD player and cassette deck will be compromised. I remember breaking off a piece of plastic the first day I got it. If you can find it at a thrift store, go for it, but I don't recommend one on eBay. Just sayin'.Read full review
