This is an amplifier that I have been very curious about for a good while. After purchasing and receiving this amp, I think this amplifier has its place in the 50 watt, 1 x 12" arena of similar amplifiers. But to me, this amplifier is a little too brassy in the upper frequencies and not near enough lower frequency response. The mid-range and lower mid-range response is very good. I would compare this amp to a Boss Katana MKII 50-watt 1 x 12 Digital modeling amplifier. I think that the Boss has a better lower end. But it too has a very brassy sound that I do not like! I love a nice bright sound but not to the extreme that it shaves your eardrums. On this Blackstar, I turned the treble back to 4, and the bass to around 7, but there was still not enough good did to get that low mid-range and low end bass response that I like. I removed the Celestion V 12" speaker that came with this amp and installed an Eminence Blackheart 12" Speaker. That did it! The bass and mid-range came to life, and the high frequencies were a lot smoother but still clean. The amp sounds great now. I recommend this amp, but not with the Celestion V Speaker it came with.
