I didn't make it all the way through. I can't fault the singing, but I found Kaufmann and Antonacci mismatched as a believable 'couple' and the sets sub-standard for a major opera company. While it is said that all comparisons are odious, I must confess that I compare all productions of Carmen to that of the Kennedy Center in I believe 2008. Denyce Graves owned the title role and the sets were simply works of art. The audience actually applauded the opening of the scene in the mountains for its spectacular beauty and the ingenuity of its unfolding.
