Pretty much a novice when it comes to knifes. Picked this one up cause I have another folding pocket knife that just does not have a strong locking mechanism. This knife might as well be a solid blade when it’s locked! No fear of this one failing! Opens smooth. Locks with a solid click. Grip is great. Texture on handle is good and the feel of it in your hand is fitting. It’s also pretty light considering it’s size and it’s super thin. Easy pocket fit with no bulge. Happy with my purchase!

Pros: Great size Great weight (sub 4oz) Discreet Thin Sharp from factory S35VN model is FLAT GROUND! Cons: Is a bit thick (from front to back) Review: I'm super stoked that CS focuses on perfecting already great blades. This is, I believe, the third incarnation of this knife. The first had AUS8A steel, hollow ground, extremely aggressive G10 scales that tore up pockets and was perhaps a bit too thick. The 2G American Lawman traded the AUS8A for CTS-XHP steel, reduced the thickness and aggressiveness of the G10, and shaved off nearly an ounce of weight to sub 4oz. This Gen 3 (I think) has a bit more aggressive G10 sans the added thickness, has a CPM S35VN blade that's high flat ground, which is great, weight is still sub 4 oz. but a little more than G2. The Gen 3 does not have a plunge grind where the blade is unsharpened, which is, in my opinion, a weak point of the previous hollow ground versions. I've seen vids where the XHP outperforms the S35VN, but I'll take the FG over the HG any day for strength. The cost of this blade is outstanding for what you get. Try getting a coated S35VN folder of this quality for under $100. It's possible, but not easy. Get one. Read full review

A solid no frills work horse. I love my recon 1 actually have 2 of them but it can be a bit large in some situations. The lawman is just as tuff and durable with a sturdy in the hand. I highly recommend this knife in the s35v. These are not your easy flip opens. The tri lock system locks this blade in place like no other. Giving a secure blade position I liken to a fixed blade.

If I could only have one knife, this would be it. A tough, strong Cold Steel cant be beat for any tasks a knife needs to take on. The American Lawman is a great blade shape for pretty well everything and although I do love CTS XHP, this knife's S35V is easier to sharpen and strops up great after my day's work.

If you want a knife that can perform everyday tasks and that is built, to last this is a great choice. It might be a bit large for some but if you're a fan of larger blades this one is reasonable. It's in the size category that shouldn't elicit terror when you take it out to open a box or cut an apple. I recommend it.
