Its a good bargain, and they are accurate.
Blocks are square. They are dimensionaly accurate to within .0003 as best I could tell. They are covered in cosmoline, or at least a heavy grease and should be cleaned before using. Very precise and accurate! Wonderful set-up blocks
I needed some blocks for my home shop and I came across these. Before I used them I decided to check them to see how close they were. In short, these are incredibly precise in all dimensions, parallel in all planes, and square. Below talks about my measurement set-up and findings. I have a very good metrology setup with a Federal Mahr comparitor which allows me to measure to 0.0001". Compared to calibrated gage blocks, the dimensions are all better than 0.0003" with several of the blocks showed no deviation from the gage blocks in all dimensions. I swept them for parallelism and they all were withing 0.0002" parallel within every plane and a few of them showed no deviation on the indicator. Finally, I checked them for squareness against a precision machinist square and a flashlight as I don't have a squareness comparitor set-up yet. No light passed through any of the planes measured by the square. That means that they are square to within 0.0007" (DIN 875-1) and probably significantly better than that. Just what I wanted but in 5 pairs instead of 3.
I haven't measured any of the blocks yet, and might not even bother. For what I am doing, these blocks are PERFECT! I only needed 3 pair, but for the price, 5 pair is way better. I want 1 pair to have some 5/16-18 threaded holes. Since all the holes were drilled 5/16, I'll just drill and tap them for 5/16-18 Heli-coils. I have lots of those.
