Characteristically Carpenter
For some reason prince of darkness really resonates with me. I love John Carpenter movies, and this one is a favorite of mine despite the lackluster reviews by critics. The cast consists of several people from a string of John Carpenter movies from the 80s. You will recognize actors from Halloween, Big Trouble in Little China, and they live. The music, written by John Carpenter himself is memorable and iconic, played mostly on synthesizers. The film has never looked or sounded better than it does on UHD. The 4K disc It’s not region coded, so it plays fine in a US player. The Blu-ray disc is region coded but it can be ripped and encoded into iTunes format for playing on Apple TV around the house using the right tools. The extras included are terrific. The soundtrack is something I have long wanted, in the 13” x 14” lobby card, although folded, is suitable for framing.
