It starts the truck but definitely cranks slower than stock starter. Truck is pretty tired and needs that few extra RPM to start easily in the cold.

I ended up installing a NOS Ford starter and starts easy now. Unfortunately this gear reduction starter was not good for my Ford. Also top bolt is impossible to remove or install without a 9/16 universal chrome socket whereas the stock style is easy to R&R with standard socket set and ratchet.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best bang for your buck.
Perfect for those cold weather days. The stocker requires a long extension, and some poking around, to get the top bolt out. But on the other hand, this Powermaster starter is just what was needed. Worth the money to upgrade!
Great improvement over direct drive starters. I replaced my battery cables at the same time as the starter on my '90 7.3 and it spins the engine over so much faster. I did have to make a crows-foot adapter out of the closed end of a 1/2" gear wrench and a 3/8" drive socket in order to tighten the top bolt on the mounting flange.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
